Oasis Sunglasses: Liam & Noel Gallagher's Style, Then and Now

Having two older brothers who were heavily into Britpop, I could hardly escape Oasis growing up. The music was everywhere. These days, as an optician working with vintage eyewear, I find myself paying just as much attention to the Gallagher brothers' sunglasses.

With Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger premiering at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on 5th September 2026, there's a fresh reason to revisit their eyewear. The documentary follows the band's 2025 reunion tour, bringing together live performances, rehearsals and moments behind the scenes.

The Gallagher Brothers' Signature Look

Sunglasses have long been a defining part of Liam and Noel Gallagher's style. Their choices span different shapes and decades, from round frames with pale coloured lenses to classic aviators.

One vintage example is the Versace Versus E59 (pictured below), worn by Liam in a 1990s photograph taken by Jill Furmanovsky. It's a model we know through our own collection, with the distinctive Versus signature on the lens.

Round Sunglasses: The Gallagher Brothers' Retro Influences

Round sunglasses are a part of both Liam and Noel Gallagher's eyewear history, reflecting the influence of John Lennon and the 1960s styles that helped shape Britpop.

Liam's pale pink and blue lenses are particularly memorable, but round frames offer several ways into the Gallagher look. Smaller shapes feel more understated, while larger frames and distinctive tints create a stronger statement.

Aviator Sunglasses: A Look Worn by Liam and Noel

Both Liam and Noel have worn aviator sunglasses, making this shape another natural starting point for Oasis-inspired sunglasses.

Aviators vary considerably. Some have a pronounced teardrop shape, while others are squarer, with different bridge details and frame thicknesses. Those features can change the look just as much as the lens tint.

Both Liam and Noel wore Porsche Design sunglasses during the 1990s, making the brand another point of reference for their eyewear style. Liam has also been spotted regularly wearing Carrera sunglasses.
